My husband and I are adopting my nephew. My sister signed the papers for her rights to be terminated months ago. We are now waiting for a hearing to be scheduled. If at the hearing the judge decides to terminate her rights we accept custody. He has to be an "orphan" for one week and then we can file for the adoption. I feel like this is taking far too long. I have called my lawyer several times. They never have any news. Does anyone know how long this should take. It's Pennsylvania. I just don't understand what is taking so long. We are trying to get it rushed because he has no medical insurance and it's like no one is listening. I know they can do this faster. It's so frustrating!
