How can I fix a sink without an overflow hole in it
I had a sink put in the bathroom and it does not drain well at all... when I called and asked the plumber why he stated that it was a gravity flow sink/drain. Is there anything that I can do to make it drain better or will I have to have a different sink put in?

Don't toss that sink just yet! Help is on its way.
Vessel sinks have no overflow to vent the drain so they require a special drain to drain properly.
You have a choice of vessel sink drains Pop-Up and Grid (see images) Pick the one you like. Good luck, Tom

    Grannie...

Tom posted the solution above. Here, if your sink is manufactured like a vessel sink... no overflow hole... then it treat it like a vessel sink!

Have the plumber come back and install a flip top or pop top type of vessel sink drain. Stay away from the grid style vessel sink drains as they just don't work as well as the flip top or the pop top types... OK?

My sink has a smell that appears every time the water runs. I have traced it to the overflow hole. I have tried running bleach through the hole which works for a few days. Next used a nipple brush to clean out the holes. Lots of black gunk came out, but the smell still returns. I think the brush...

Hole in trunk; to fix or not to fix? [ 1 Answers ]

I have a massive Catalpa (sp) tree in my front yard. The trunk is about 4 feet in diameter at ground level. About 10 feet up the trunk, there is an oblong hole that's about 10" tall by 4" wide. I think squirrels are living in there. While I don't want to harm the squirrels, I don't want to lose...

Can I fix a hole in metal pipe under bathroom sink? [ 10 Answers ]

Just the other day after cleaning out a clog in the bathroom sink, I noticed it started to leak and after inspecting it I saw that there is a hole in the metal pipe. The hole is on the lower part of the pipe (on the lowest part of the J shape that forms it) - it looks like the pipe is corroded....

Sink w/o overflow hole [ 9 Answers ]

I just had a home inspection on a house I am considering buying. The inspector mentioned that the 2nd floor bathroom sinks did not have overflow holes. Is this a Uniform Plumbing Code violation?
