I've read all the info on winterizing the hotwater heater, so I ran a trial run just for grins- The problem that I have is that after turning off the main, dialing down the hotwater heater, opening-up the faucets to help drain the water, the water at it's lowest point (basement) continues to run verry slowely and it's warm water. I'm guesing the 75 gallon heater is draining very slowely! I left it drain for several hours and it doesen't stop. What I'am I doing wrong? Help!

Mario, I'd say your water heater is air locked, some people open the prv to let air in, I've not had any luck with it closing back so I just loosen a fitting on top to introduce air. Good luck

I agree, don't open the pressure valve since they tend to not reseal. Are you opening both the hot and cold faucets thoroughout the house, should do that. This could also be a main valve not closing 100% or a clogged heater drain. When you first open the drain valve does it gush with great force and volume, it should. After closing the main carefully mark your water meter spinner wheel, does it continue to rotate even slowly for hours, if so the main is not 100% closed
