    Washer high fill only
10 year old Kenmore washer will not stop filling at LOW and MEDIUM water level settings. Continues to fill until tub to full and continues normally. LOW or MEDIUM settings fill tub as if Level setting is on HIGH. Water level pressure tube is connected to Level switch as are all wires. Don't see any chaffed/damaged wiring. Could the water level switch behind the front panel be bad or is there something else that could cause this problem? Thanks for any help.

Sounds like a leak in the fill level diaphragm. They are pretty cheap and easy to replace. Sounds like you opened the case and have already seen it.

Not sure if I understand how it could be a leaking diaphragm. If the diaphragm was leaking, it would think that it would be the same as the water level (pressure) tube not attached to the level switch. A leak would cause the level switch, even in HIGH, not to signal a full tub resulting in the tub overflowing (personal experience talking here, e.g. tube came off level switch on unattended washer resulting in flooded house). However, not completely understanding the internal workings of the diaphragm (e.g. separate chambers for each level setting), I guess it is possible that there is one or more leaks. I found a switch for $29 + s/h online, so may give that a try unless someone else has a different theory. Thanks for the input ma0641.

There may be a failsafe in the system that will shut off the water.? DIY $35 sounds like a worthwhile try. Hope it works, Brian
