To be sure, go file and let the unemployment office make the decision. Good luck

Normally no, but then it never hurts to try to file.
The issue, to collect unemployment, you have to be able and willing to work, so if you were too ill to work for medical reasons, then you can't collect.

I really don't forsee you collecting unemployment if you left for medical reasons. As Chuck pointed out you need to be physically able to look for work while collecting unemployment and taking a job while on unemployment and working as well.

You can collect unemployment if you are physically and mentally able to work but cannot find employment. A medical problem on one job does not translate to a medical problem on all jobs. If, for example, you are required to lift objects but no longer can, then you would be let go, possibly, for medical reasons that do NOT keep you from finding other employment.
However, if you are on some form of medical disability and stated that you are physically unable to work and then file for unemployment saying you are physically able to work but cannot locate employment you could be criminally charged. NY (I don't know where you are) is getting tough on people who are filing for double benefits, whether they collect.

Also, if the job refused to make an accommodation for your medical condition that forced you to leave you might be able to collect.
As you can see its not a black and white question, there are too many variables. The only black and white here is that you have to be able and willing to work to collect unemployment. So if the medical condition prevents that, then you can't collect. If the condition only prevents you working at your previous job, you may be able to collect. So give it a try.
