    21 yr old theft help !
    21 yr old theft help ! My daughter is 21 and never stold anything in her life was with a friend and stole about 155.00 worth of clothes was outside the store and was about to get into her car when a lady form the store told them to come back into the store they did and they gave them both a ticket to go to court what should she do plead guilty and pay any fines or what would happen this is her first offfence and we live in Nevada.. thank you Maria Mendez

    First time she got caught... unlikely it's the first time she ever did it however.

    Personally, she's going to be in court either way, right?

    That means you should have a lawyer... they are. See if your lawyer can work out a restitution deal with the prosecuter in advance of the court date. THey caught her red handed with the goods after they followed her out of the store with them. Odds are 99.99% she is going to be found guilty with that evidence. Offer a substantial amount over the goods in question and a deal she will never enter that store or any branch stores ever again in exchange for an out of court settlement.

    Its worth a try. But don't try it on your own. A lawyer would know the way to negotiate a settlement.

    The alternative is a Judge that's had a bad day and throws the book at her, even if she has a clean record... or she might get off with a heafty fine and probation. You really won't know for sure taking your chances.

    Agreed, hire an attorney, normally there is a first offender program ( different names in different places) she would pay some fines, do some probation and after it is over, they dismiss the charges, so there is no record.

    Now that is only a normal, each case is different
