I Lie about serious things a lot
[B]I know there is a old post discussing this topic but I decided to post one myself. I am 13 and I lie about serious things, Like rape, death, suicide, etc and at this point I am scared. I continue to do it to the people who I love and care for dearly and I don't know why. I have read articles and I know some people do it for attention, but I don't need attention to the point where I'd lie about it. Others do it because they are lonely. Others because of low selfesteem. I do have low self-esteem but I believe I do this for a stronger reason. Is there any way I can get help at all? Anyone dealing with the same thing? My emaill is: >Removed< if anyone wants to tell me something about the same things. Thanks.

Hey, do you think maybe you could talk to a family member or somebody else about this. We are here for you if you need anything, but if you want help, I believe the loved ones and friends can help you best with this.

I have a daughter who has lied to me and everyone else. She started at an early age like 6. She's 19 now and she still says she doesn't lie and tries to explain it away, she's never does, she in denial.. Obviously your looking for help by posting here, I always felt if my daughter would see what she is doing she could begin to change this behavior. Maybe she would find out why she has been doing this. The first step in knowing what or why is telling yourself there is a problem and being familiar with what's bothering you and you are going in the right direction. Try doing things in your life that will bring you up not pull you down. Im sure one day you want to have a family a home Im only saying whatever you do later on will come easier to you if you don't have bad habits.

Possibly, the thing is I don't lie to my parents about these things. So I don't know how their overall reaction would be. But I will sum up the courage to do so soon, so this does not take over my life.
And thank you.

I started at an early age too I believe. Maybe I was just too young to realize it. It is quite fusrating but for the last 2 years, I have realized how much I do it to my friends and even though there is a part of me that is telling me not to lie, I do it anyway and sort of go into this imaginary mind set to make sure what I am saying makes sense. It is so scary sometimes.

You should ask your parents to take you the doctor and talk to them. I do not think your parent s will react a negatively as you think if you are reaching out for help. You seem like a good kid who has developed a bad habit.
