Moved back to China
Hi
My wife currently has a conditional two-year permanent residence permit which is about to expire. However, we moved back to China six months ago and are planning to stay here for another two years or more. I read that we cannot gain re-entry if we are out of the country for more than six months (we didn't apply for a travel permit) and don't want to pay the $500 application fee to remove conditions if she will be unable to get re-entry without the travel document. We're told the only option we have is to turn in her green card and apply again in the future (at which time we will be granted a 10-year, non-conditional permit). My question is how we are to approach the situation. I don't mind removing the conditions and keeping the green card, and neither does she, but if that means going back to the U.S. every year then it is a solid no (too expensive). If we have to turn in her green card and apply again in the future, what is the procedure for doing this? I can't seem to find any information on this on the USCIS website and the toll free number certainly isn't much help.
Thank You
Jeff

Turn in her green card and apply again in the future is the best choice if you can't afford to live in US 6 months every year.

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. We figured that was our best/only option but it is hard to find this information on the USCIS website. I do have another question, however: What form do I need to submit in order to terminate her LPR condition and do I need to go to Guangzhou and do it in person?
Thanks again!

Found it... I-407 and must show up in person. It took a lot of research, but it was finally found NOT on the USCIS website, but the U.S. Consulate in Guangzhou website (for future reference to other users).
Peace
