Causes for well water pump low pressure at gage
The well water pump (and all of water treatment system components) is about two months old and has been working fine. However, yesterday the gage pressure read 40 PSI, even though it had been set and working at 50 PSI all this time. Last night while, taking a shower, the water pressure was fine for a little while but then it began to drop until there was hardly any water coming out. What could be the issue?

What u described sounds like your well pump is shutting off because of lack of water.

Did u check the gauge to see what the reading was?

Did the pressure come back? How long did it take and to what pressure did it reach on gauge?

    How deep is well?

Thanks for the responses. I thought about your replies and all indications led me to believe the pressure tank was not getting enough water. So I found the issue to be a clogged sediment filter, which I suspect was not replaced by the company that replaced the water system. My thinking is that the pump was having a tough time drawing the water from the well into the tank; shutting off before the tank reached the proper pressure or water level. Anyhow, I cleaned the sediment filter housing and installed a brand new filter and now we have plenty of water pressure.

We resently had to replace our water pump at our cottage due to it cracking over the winter from not winterizing it correctly. Our brother in law forgot to pull the plug. So with that said we had to replace it with an sjo7 gould3/4 horse water pump. We had had nothing but problems with it. We...

Low water pressure new well pump is it the Water softener? [ 1 Answers ]

Hi, again I called a well service Co. and they replaced my well pump. It was barely functioning. Strangly the pervious install was a 220 volt pump and it was connected to 110, and it worked. That pump was about 20 years old. The new pump is a 110 volt pump. My problem now is occasional...

Low water pressure from well pump [ 1 Answers ]

Hi again, I recently replaced the pressure switch because I heard the well pump running non-stop. At this time the pump never seems to generate more than 38 PSI on the gauge. Also the pipe from the well seems to vibrate loudly. It seems as the pressure tank is light (no water in it?). The...

Low water pressure after replacing well pump [ 4 Answers ]

I recently replaced a well pump. After the pump was replaced, within a day, we started to get low water pressure in the house. It starts strong for about 30 sec, and then it gets very low - not to a tricle- but not strong either. I've been reading other threads, and thought about increasing...
