Daschund in crates
So the other night while being left alone our Dachund went through and tore up the place. Due to this, my husband FINALLY agreeed to allow him to be crated when we are not home. Since my husband is a carpenter, he usually takes Zeus with him on runs but once in a while he will need to be crated for a couple of hours. NOW here is the real question. I really don't like sleeping with Zeus. I spend all night yelling cause he is licking me. I love him and short naps with him is great but I have to get up early in the mornings for work. Soooo I want to crate him at night so I can get some sleep and my husband says that is cruel since he has gotten used to sleeping with us. I say it's not bad for him once he gets used to it. Who is right? HELP

I own a doxie and I can tell you that he loves his crate. Doxies love small spaces where they can burrow. They also need a place of their own. Crates offer this to them. My doxie loves his crate and will often go into it on his own, especially if the house gets loud or if he is tired. He sleeps with us sometimes and in his crate sometimes. But, he is always crated when we leave the house, or in the car. Doxies are known to tear things up at home if left alone, and this can not only cause destruction to your home but also is unhealthy for you dog. They might choke or get into something that could cause them harm (electrical cords etc,).

I view letting the dog sleep in bed with you as a matter of personal taste, only saying no if the dog is refusing to accept your leadership. I have seen opinions from if you love your dog to never. Our dogs sleep downstairs in their crate.
Check the What does a puppy need sticky for help including settling the dog down in the crate for the night.

I sleep with my doxie all the time. She doesn't ever lick my face, and if she's ever tried, I just push her away and she gets the idea. Are you wearing some type of smelly moisterizer? Usually when I wear lotion, that's when she'll lick me.
