    Contractor damages property
We had a tree contractor cut down a tree on our property. When he left his bucket truck caught our power line and pulled our electric meter from the house and broke the siding and soffit. He did not tell us he did it. After a few weeks I phoned him and he admitted it and said he would fix it. He is now ignoring my calls and not fixing anything. We paid him for the tree cutting before we even noticed the damage as this is our vacation home in the adirondacks and we did not notice until later. What should I do?

    Hello blue:

You should get the damage fixed and sue the contractor in small claims court.

Yes, that is why the contractor should have insurance, this may be paid either by his workers liability or his truck insurance.

But since he is not dealing with it, you sue him in small claims court, I would also report it to the BBB so it will be on file about his actions.
