My Bryant AC keeps tripping the brkr. It is 4yrs old and has new capacitor and brkr.
After I reset the breaker my unit will run through a cycle and shut off, when the stat calls for it to start up again the breaker will trip. I had the capacitor replaced last summer and it still looks fine. I replaced the 2-pole 30amp breaker yesterday. It is a bryant model: 661c. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Check all high voltage (220/240 volt) connections in the entire supply side for the outside unit. Panel, outside disconnect, contact in unit etc.

Since you have already replaced the run capacitor in the outside unit you might try a hard start kit to see if that helps the situation since you might be experiencing low power voltage in your area due to the heat and demand on the local utility. Years ago I used to just put one on for a few days just to see if it helped the situation. If not remove the hard start and seek further into the problem. You probably do not have an Amprobe to test the current draw of the unit and the individual components but if you do then use that tool to help isolate the problem.

Thanks for the advice. I will try the hard start first. All of the connections looked good and I cleaned the coils and everything else out around the unit but still no luck. I will let you know what I find out. Thanks again.

If it worked for 2 days it should be OK. Glad you got it working.
