    Grand larceny of third degree
I had a case of grand larceny of third degree in NY for $12000 approx against me The charges were made in 1992 and a warrant was issued for appearance in court in 1992 . I was out of the USA and did not appear in court on the due date. I am neither a citizen nor a residant of USA but hope to settle the case without arrest. Is that possible and if so how do I go about it. If I enter the state of NY do I run the risk of arrest and can I get bail. Would the case still be pending after 18 years. Thank you

    Hello p:

Please do not make multiple posts about the SAME issue.

If you enter the US WITH a warrant, you WILL be arrested. Yes, with an attorney, you can arrange to turn yourself in. Will you get bail?? Maybe? Yes, of course, the case is pending. Warrants last forever.

Actually I am not sure if warrants were issued or outstanding. Is there a way to find out before deciding next course of action. Moreover when I apply for a visa to enter usa at the consular office in my country will they not deny me a tourist visa

    Hello again, p:

Couple things. YOU said a warrant was issued - not me. But, in any case, if you didn't go to court when you were ordered, a warrant WAS issued. You can count on it. What? You think they just forget?? Not here, Bub.

The next thing is your visa. Of course they won't turn you down. They WANT you back here.

First thanks a lot for your prompt reply. Its been 18 years so I have become a bit hazy on the facts. The summons were perhaps received by my aunt in long island and I never saw them myself. I have visited the US after the above event but not the state of NY and no arrests have been made. That time I had a 5 year multiple entry visa to the US and did not need to apply for any fresh visa though know it has expired so I will need a fresh visa. Is it possible to hire a lawyer to plea bargain and possibly return the money and ascertain the current status of the case after providing him some details. I appreciate your help and advice in the matter.
