    Gestational Diabetes, and Preeclampsia
Hi, I am 22 yrs old, 35w and 3 days pregnant with my 2nd child. And I have diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes, and Preeclampsia, I've been also having a hard time breathing and with heart flutters, so my dr. ordered a halter monitor to be worn for 24 hrs. The results came back as me not having heart problem per se, but that my heart has to work really hard when I get up and move around, and my heart rate with go up to 140. And that's why I have been feeling like I'm going to pass out.
But my main questions are about the protocol on someone having GD and Preeclampsia. My doctor hasn't sent me for an ultrasound since I found out I have GD, he's sent me for 9 different GTT. And I have to take one every time I go to see him, which is every week now. And my blood pressure being high and my swelling doesn't seem to concern him. I have had a very healthy weight gain up until the last 2 weeks. I have only gained 2 lbs at every appt, up until this last appt at which I had gained 8 lbs! And I'm just huge swelled. And I asked my dr. about inducing me because of all these problems, because I'm quite scared for my baby and me. But he says they won't allow any inductions to happen until 39 weeks, even if I have toxemia.
This is the very same doctor I used 2 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter. He wasn't like this though. I mean I didn't suffer from GD, but I did have preeclampsia. And he was going to induce me 2 weeks early, but my water broke 3 days before my scheduled induction. And I was wondering what the protocol is for patients with GD and preeclampsia. Thank you so much.

I would like to know what your blood pressure readings are, if you don't mind.

Most hospitals will not induce prior to 38 or 39 weeks gestation unless there is a problem with the fetus.

GD isn't that dangerous, per se, but can produce large babies that may need some care post delivery to manage their sugar since they are no longer receiving it from mom.

Many times I manage preeclampsia with magnesium sulfate, rather than delivery at your stage of pregnancy, if the blood pressure warrants it.

It seems your doctor is taking a cautious approach.
