    Hello Rubydd,

    This is 5 1/2 year old post you should have start a new one, to answer your question yes you do need a gasket, see the attachment it shows it as a washer, Thanksnk.

    Toi add a bit to Johns answer the gasket is there to prevent water from leaking past the faceplate.
