    Ac condensation line termination
Just bought a home. Everything in it redone and upgraded from electric to ac etc. been here 6 months and the ac drain line began backing up into the house. The air handler is in the middle of home in a closet, the line for the drain goes straight down through the slab. I vac out the line wich was quite clogged and still leaks, drip tray is clean and new but there is only a primary drain line for it as I mentioned above. All my research for the area says it is not allowed to drip into any sewage lines. But when I took the line out of the slab to look at it, I founf the line simply was pressed through slab into the soil underneath the home. Used a long wooden dowl and gently pressed down 2 feet to make sure I wasn't just looking at a clogged line. After passing through the ac slime that was there it was nothing but soil, no pipe no drain no nothing. I have no idea where the water has been going for 6 months under the slab but it is obvious the soil was absorbing most of it and the bacteria sludge as well. What do I do now? Run it to a drain in a wet wall 15 feet down the hall? I would hate to tear up a wall if I didn't need to.

Buy yourself a condensate removal pump and use the vinyl tubing to run it to a convient location outside the home. The line can be run in the attic space and then outside saving you the wall problem. Also install (if the pump does not come with one) a low voltage cut off safety switch. This way if the pump stops working the switch will cut off the A/C unit outside so you will know to take corrective repair action on the pump.

Nice ty for the info, how do they work? I see they all come with different size holding tanks. They get to a certain lvl and the pump kicks on?

They store then pump the water out of a small tube. They have a automatic switch that controls the pumping. Do a Google for more info.

I live in North Carolina. We purchased a new construction home. The furnace is a 90% efficiency Lennox. When the nights get too cold, the 3/4" condensation line freezes and (I am told) that the lack of the furnace being able to sense a vacuum in the line, will not let the burner ignite (it is a...

I had a forced air/ac unit installed a while back in my attic. This is a new home and I am just finishing it up. I note there are two 3/4" PVC drain lines coming from the drain pan in the attic. One goes outside and terminates above a window. I assume this is a secondary drain line and I should...
