Is it tacky to mentinon a commission to customers?
I work with a software company selling software and services. I have sent an email to customers in my territory letting them know I will receive a small commission when they process their support orders through my office. Do you think the customers will feel it is tacky of me to mention I receive a commission when they work directly with me?

Yes it is indeed... however... if you have an established relationship with a customer... it's slightly more kosher to mention the commission that you will receive if they purchase through you... however... unsolicited information from you is definitely tacky. On the other hand if a client were to ask you directly if you receive commission its better to answer honestly... hope this helps.

I think its tacky.I think most people would assume it at any rate and I don't think it would enhance your sales.

What you tell them is that by working with you directly ,they will receive your personal assurance that the product is such and such and that you will personally see to their specific needs.

Find other reasons it would be advantageous for them to work with you personally.Build on your reputation.

I know you want credit for the sale, but it does sound really tacky.

Why not just ask them to mention your name when they place their order?
