    Re dying
I am watching my mother-in-law die from emphyazema, copd, broncitis, on thanksgiving day for 5 1/2 hours she was out of it, all most comatose she states that she was visiting the man up-stairs. Her oxygen tank is on 4 1/2 now and she refuses to sleep in the hospital bed, she still wants to smoke. How do people deal with stuff like this?

    Who people? You or her?
We each deal with the reality of our own mortality differently.
"Dealing with it" means trying to understand. That's not easy.
My guess is she fears being this close. She seeks something comforting and, at least to her, having a smoke conjures up comforting thoughts.

    Hi..

I think its best to let her do whatever she wants and you try ti enjoy it with her,, she wants to enjoy every moment because she's afraid propably, so always be happy in front of her and do things with her that make her enjoy her time ;),,

Act normal so that ahe wouldn't feel any different from others, if she's happy, then she might be cured ;), because happiness does effect on health.
