Changing the blade on Troy Bilt Self Propelled Lawn Mower Model 12AV566m011
Hi, I'm attempting to change the blade on my 2008 Troy Bilt Self Propelled Lawn Mower, Model 12AV566m011. I read online the basics of changing a blade and it seems pretty easy. I don't have the manual. The instructions online say when you replace the blade tighten it to the torque according to the manual. Well since I don't have the manual, how do I know how hard I should tighten it? Obviously I don't want it too loose so it comes off while I'm mowing. I also don't want it too tight and break it. Any advice, tips, tricks? Thanks!

You can use this table. I'll guess about 25 ft-lbs. BOLTS AND TORQUE SPECS

You need to know the thread size, the grade of the bolt and call it dry.

Is it really THAT important? I got the blade on and tightened it as hard as I could. I'm not real strong but it seems to be on there pretty good. I mowed my lawn with it a little bit and check it.

Perhaps when I have a guy friend come over I should have them tighten it a little bit more?
