    My friend is disabled and unemployed.
    My friend is Disabled and Unemployed. A credit collector garnished his bank account via a court order is this legal?

    If it was via court order and the collector had a judgment, yes its legal. If he is on disability pension then he has to realize he can't have automatic deposit or it will be taken. Any money in a bank account is fair game. Have him cancel automatic deposit and have his cheques mailed to his home or a post office box number.

    Are they collecting government disability ?

    But yes, a garnishment can take money from their bank account
