    96 honda accord ex
I was attempting to change the back disc brake pads on my 96 Honda accord ex, but I could not get the piston to retract. I bought a tool that will collapse the caliper piston but it would not retract enough to put the new brake pads on. I need to know if there is something I need to do special or do I possibly need a new caliper? Is there something that I have to do with the emergency brake to get the piston to retract? Thanks

Did you remove the cap to the brake master cylinder reservoir? This will likely prevent the piston from completely retracting. If you keep trying, without removing the brake master cylinder reservoir cap, you can damage the ABS.

    Remember to:
    1. Apply anti-squeal compound to the back of the inner pads.
    2. Clean and regrease the two caliper pins with silicone brake grease.
    3. Change the brake fluid.

The motor on my '93 Civic died while the car was moving. It would not restart. The horn and lights work. Could the problem be as simple as a dead battery?
