    Rust in Water
I have Rust coming from all my water lines in my house.
It is staining everything from the toilet tanks to the counter tops.
We have tried everything to clean it with, but nothing works.

I have noticed that I have galvanized nipples coming out of the walls where the shutoff connect to. I have copper pipes in the attic. Is this my problem?
The house is about 20 years old and these might be original, unsure.

First off, why would someone put in copper pipes and then put a galvanized nipple on the end.
How hard would it be to change out these galvanized nipples throughout the house?
Is it something I can do without sweating new pipes?
Is there some easier way without breaking into the drywall?
Is there something else I can use besides galvanized nipples?

    Thanks.

This is just not good plumbing practice.

Not difficult at all. Just replace the galvanized nipples with brass ones.

All these are answered By replacing galvanized nipples with brass nipples.
Don't forget to check the nipples coming out of the water heater. Afterwards flush all the pipes out.

Looking for sheetrock nails that don't rust! [ 7 Answers ]

I've installed quite a bit of sheetrock, and it seems that the nail heads always eventually rust, when located near a shower or tub. The screws do a much better job, but it sure seems like it wouldn't be too difficult to manufacture an aluminum alloy nail that would not rust. I've looked for...
