    Does childbirth hurt ?
Hello, I'm 17 years old and I have to say the stories I have heard about childbirth are horrible. We learnt about it at 6th form in more depth recently and the video made it look awful and very painful. However I can't help wondering if it is so painful why would a woman do it more than once? :)

Everyone's pain tolerance is different, for some women childbirth its so painfull and difficult that they don't have any more children, for others, it's a joyful/painfull but fulfilling experience.

Mother nature is very cunning, she gives you a beautiful baby so you forget the pain,or at least your so tired for the first year, you don't remember.

    I've had four babies,the first I was 19 very scared and it was a terrible experience,the second much the same,the third,easy peasy,the fourth,horrific.

There is lots of pain relief available, but being well prepared, emotionally, mentally, financally and physically, makes a hell of a difference,to the overall experience.

I am a labor and delivery nurse. My patients tell me that it is the worst pain they have ever felt in their lives, but it is rewarded with a beautiful bundle of joy.

It's not easy to get a 6+ pound baby out of such a small opening. Yes, it's going to hurt. But as Reddy said, there are pain relief options available.
