    Our home came with shut off valves that are permanently attached to the supply line. The line is now leaking so we need to replace the valve and the line. I have the water to the house shut off, but can't determine how to remove the valve. I'm attempting to attach a photo...

    I am not seeing an "edit" button - just wanted to add that I have attempted to "unscrew" the valve from the copper pipe but it seems to just spin without getting me anywhere.

    With the house supply closed you can unscrew the flex line from the valve. I have never seen a stop cock like this before. What country are you in? Looks like it could be a type of "Sharkbite" and if that is correct pull towards you on that frost colored ring nearest the wal and then pull on the valve. You actually must press the ring into the valve then pull

    Have to agree with bb on both accounts. Here is a video on how to install/remove sharkbite fittings. The removal tool may help in your case.

    Thank you so much! So, once I have the valves removed, what kind of valves to I need to get to replace them?

    A compression angled stop cock should be right for this app

    Okay, well, they aren't sharkbite fittings. They are these pieces of junk. Apparently it will likely involve cutting or breaking the plastic housing to remove them. A job for another day since I'm tired of having no water to the house. I'll keep you posted...
