I owned stock in a company acquired by another - am I still a shareholder?
Though I've misplaced the certificate, I once owned shares in the Miramar Mining Corporation (OTCBB ticker MAENF, then TSX: MAE and Amex: MNG). Miramar was acquired by Newmont Mining Corporation in 2008. Am I still a shareholder?

I've found a document that may be relevant, but I don't know enough to understand what it means. MIRAMAR MINING CORP (Form: SC14D1F/A, Received: 11/09/2007 17:01:27)

    Any ideas?

    Hello s:

Your stock certificates were not bearer certificates... That means they only represent the stock you own. They aren't the stock itself. Bearer certificates ARE the stock, and if they're lost, the stock is lost.

But, since your stock is NOT bearer, there's somebody in the company who has a list of every single stockholder. I'd call the company and talk to them.
