Heat pump condenser coil water spray
Noticed the Cons of the idea, but what about distilled water or condensate water or water with some form of aluminum protector mineral dissolved in it or a sacrificial electrode to take the destruction instead of the condenser coils.
How about a open cell foam jacket up stream of the air flow with a water spray on it rather than the coils?
    Completely crazy?

I would take that off your list of things to do but if you really have to add waster into the mix then I suggest you obtain a water cooled condenser for outside since it is designed to use water as a heat removal agent to start with.

Point taken, but... (ya, you knew that was coming!) as this is a previously owned beast, and as I am recently retired... and have the Tim Taylor gene spliced into my left lobe... I think I'll go that "soak foam " route for a while -especially in the hottest part of the season.
I am aware that I invite a sudden catastrophic outage... and must pay attention to keeping the foam debris free (so as not to choke off the air flow).
I invite your asking radio or electronic advise of me... so you too can slap me in the face with some ill conceived "plan of attack" A.T.A. (against technical advise)... at which point we decide who visits whom with the pack of Marshmallows to be roasted over our -smoldering-respective projects.
    Thanks,
