1042-s reporting - Please Please Help
I have a situation and this is for US Citizen living abroad for last 2.5 years. Last year, he did conversion of Rollover to Roth. Vanguard had foreign address and they have issued 1042-S (with income code14, and Fed Tax withheld). When he called them, they told him that while they can fix in future so that he receives 1099, for 2009 they cannot do anything (meaning, he has to file with 1042-S).
Now, how do we handle 1042-S in the tax return (1040)? What to enter which line? Please help since we are late.

    Thank You

    Sun:

Enter it on the IRA line #15, attach the Form 1042-S to the return, and attach a statement explaining what the Form 1042-S represents.
