Resident Alien for tax purposes but I got a 1042 S, and not 1099-Misc
I've been in the U.S. since 2003 and based on the substantial presence test I can be classified as resident alien fro tax purposes. However, my employer sent me a 1042 S and not a 1099-Misc. I'm using TurboTax to file my taxes jointly with my husband (american citizen) and it would be easier to have 1099-Misc form because this software doesn't support 1042 S. I also have a W2 for last year because I changed jobs. Am I correct in thinking that I should have received a 1099-Misc instead of 1042 S.
Thank you in advance for your help.

To further clarify, the code on the 1042 S is 15.

Agree that a Form 1099-MISc should have been issued instead of the 1042-S.
