    Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan ac-527
I moved into my home with a Hampton bays Ceiling fan model ac-527. Every thing worked fine until I noticed that one of the light sockets had been replaced. The heat from the bulbs finally ruined the replaced socket. During the removal process, I had created a short, which blew the circuit. Ever since then, the fan with turn on and off with the remote, but the light dimmer is stuck on the on position. I'm assuming that the receiver was fried during the short circuit. Can the receiver be replaced? Or do you have any other suggestion in being able to operate the fan with out the lights on!

Receivers can be replaced but its too early to think its fried. Open the canopy and disconnect the Black, blue and white of the unit from the receiver. Now test black and white going into the receiver, if you have 120 then go test between black and white coming out of receiver and then blue and white. I think you have a good chance all is well so far and the short is down at the light socket area.

Yes you fried the receiver. Contact the manufacturer for replacement parts. Their number is in our sticky.
