    Copper over plastic coupling leak
    Hi,

    I installed a GatorBite 1/2" coupling between copper amd plastic tubing. I did exactly what the package told me. I made a 1" line inserted the coupling over the copper tubing (cleaned the burrs first) and inserted the plastic tubing into the other end of the coupling. I treated it first, and then glued it. When I was finished with the job I turned on the water and it was leaking from the top of the GatorBite Coupling. I tried tighting it up, with no luck.

    Any Ideas?

    I this plastic tube or flexible plastic tubing?

    If it's plastic tube, you should use no glue. The fitting as well as the tubing is likely damaged beyond repair.

    What did you "...tighten up..." at the GatorBite coupling ?

    In the interim: make sure both pipes are inserted straight into GatorBite coupling. Any angle, or side pressure, will make it to leak.

    If you inserted plastic pipe into GatorBite coupling with glue on it - you will have to replace the GatorBite coupling. The glue most likely damaged the O-ring inside the coupling causing negative seal.
