92 Honda Civic knock in distributor
I had a break in my head gasket a few weeks back. My engine got a good spray of oil so I took it into a mechanic. That problem is solved but now once the engine warms up a knocking/buzzing sound comes from the distributor and the engine starts missing. A new distributor is pretty pricey and I don’t really want to mess with the retardation of the distributor. What are my options/problem? Thanks for any help.

Get the part no. off your current distributor and call your local salvage yard. A replacement distributor should be around $55. Here's how to easily replace the distributor yourself:

I own a 1992 Civic and I was told I would need a distributor because the mechanic could hear a slight "chirping". I have a 1999 Honda civic that wouldn't start. I paid $600 for a new distributor. The car has approx 48,500 miles on it. I have never had to replace a distributor on a car before. Is this a common problem?
