    Have you been keeping in touch with her while she's been away? Emailing?

    There's a difference between looking like an idiot and being friendly. Sounds like you have a lack of self-esteem.

    You sound like you're just a little shy. It's tough to make a move on a girl when you're backward, but you can do it! :p

    Start slowly and just get to know her first. Does she have a My Space or Facebook account? If so, become her friend and communicate back and forth. Get her number and text her occasionally.

    She won't think you're an idoit! :)
