    Criminal record check after shoplifting
I was caught shoplifting a few months back, I was not charged but the police gave me a ticket for trespassing. After reading other people's posts, it seems as though this has given me a criminal record... will I still be able to travel to the US and get a job even though I was never convicted/went to court/got fingerprinted etc? I was able to pay the ticket online just like a parking ticket... I didn't think this was a huge deal and would give me a criminal record?

Depends on so many factors, was this a "warning" ticket or a ticket to either appear in court or pay a fine.
A ticket in many states are actually summons to appear in court but some offenses you are allowed to pay a fine, if you pay the fine that is the same as pleading guilty.

So was it on a city ordiance or a state misdemeanor charge

This is in Toronto, Canada. It was a yellow slip just like the one when they issue a speeding ticket. On the back, I plead guilty and paid the fine... just like a speeding ticket. No summons to court. They handed me over the ticket and just said "pay it within 15 days or else your license will be suspended". THey told me they were not going to charge me criminally because "i was applying to teachers college". So what now?

The ticket was under "Trespass of Property Act" in Ontario. I've tried to read it and understand it, but still don't understand if it will be on my record or not.

I'm also curious as to this. Does paying it mean that it's on the criminal record? And also, how much was the fine that the store sent you?
