Ficus Trees Planted
Hi,
My gardner just planted 5 Ficus Trees in a raised planter I have that stretches the length of my back yard and is about 16inches wide. The raised planter is composed of a 6 foot retainer wall in the front with a 16 foot back wall. My backyard faces a private community, hence the reason for the 16 foot back wall. Im hearing that the roots of the ficus trees will eventually break down my 6 foot retainer wall. Is this true? Is the root system of ficus trees very aggressive? HELP... Thanks Czr |

Ohhhh my! Have you ever seen the size of the Ficus that was planted at Cypres Gardens? It is huge. Ficus trees are a huge problem down here in Florida. The roots punch through pools, they constrict and burst pipes. They have been outlawed down here. I am not sure where you live but if you have pipes anywhere near the things they will find them. Five will just compound your problem. Ouch. Good luck. James
