    Ficus Trees Planted
    Hi,

My gardner just planted 5 Ficus Trees in a raised planter I have that stretches the length of my back yard and is about 16inches wide. The raised planter is composed of a 6 foot retainer wall in the front with a 16 foot back wall. My backyard faces a private community, hence the reason for the 16 foot back wall. Im hearing that the roots of the ficus trees will eventually break down my 6 foot retainer wall. Is this true? Is the root system of ficus trees very aggressive? HELP...

    Thanks

Ohhhh my! Have you ever seen the size of the Ficus that was planted at Cypres Gardens? It is huge. Ficus trees are a huge problem down here in Florida. The roots punch through pools, they constrict and burst pipes. They have been outlawed down here. I am not sure where you live but if you have pipes anywhere near the things they will find them. Five will just compound your problem. Ouch. Good luck. James
