    2001 altima intake manifold gasket
I have a 2001 Nissan Altima. From what I have read, my rough idle is probably due to a leaking intake manifold gasket. I'm not a car mechanic. I'm I foolish to try to do this myself?
I'm also having a problem with driver side power window not going all the way up. Is this the motor or the guide? Can I fix this myself with a little help from Haynes or Chilton?
    Thanks for the help

ajr2, we could use a little more info on both problems.
Regarding an attempt at doing this yourself, if you don't have someone available who has any experience at drivability diagnosis, pinning down the actual cause for your rough idle may be tough.
About the window problem, try first using a lube spray to see if maybe it's just lacking lubrication at the window guides. Find a silicone spray that has a straw with it and starting with the window down, begin at the top of the rear track, spray lightly and move the can down towards the glass, letting just a little trickle down the track. Then immediately begin moving the glass up and down several cycles to coat the track and guides with lube. Run that a few times and see if that helps. Use a similar process with the front track until the window moves freely.
However, if the window just stops completely during it's travel, and then won't move for several minutes, the window motor is the likely fault.
If you do need the motor for that window replaced, let us know.
