99ford f150 air intake manifold removal
Please talk slow and use small words.
I tried to remove the air intake manifold from my 99 f150. I removed the 9 bolts from the top and anything on the sides that I could find. The unit would not budge, like it was welded on. What did I miss? I need to get it off in order to deal with injection wiring on # 3 eaten by pack rats. There is not enough clearance in the wire harness to access it otherwise. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

There's often on Fords an Upper Intake Manifold (UIM) and a Lower Intake Manifold (LIM). Even after removing all the bolts on the UIM, it's still connected to the Throttle Body, plus PCV hoses, etc. I can't recall now what it went to, but one is almost a 1" steel pipe.
Once you reinstall the UIM/LIM, be sure to torque the bolts in the proper sequence and amount or you'll have problems afterwards. Buy a Haynes or other manual for the specs. |
