    Smile and say hello,ask can you walk with them to class,be confident.

    Making friends is the same way,I suggest you make friends with the person and find out if you really like them.

    The same way you make friends with anyone else. Ask them to hangout. Add them as friends on your social networking profiles. Talk to them.
