    how do I solve this equation?
    12x-9.6x-24,000=6,000

    I won't do your hmework for you, but I will show you how to do this by solving a slightly different problem - then you can apply the same technique to this problem and get the answer.

    Suppose you have:

    6x - 3.5x - 200 = 800

    First, group the 'x' terms together:

    (6x - 3.5x) - 200 = 800
    2.5x - 200 = 800.

    Next group the plain numbers together - you can do this by adding 200 to both sides of the equation:

    2.5x - 200 + 200 = 800 + 200
    2.5x = 1000

    Next you can get 'x' all by itself by dividing both sides of the equation by 2.5:


    2.5x/2.5 = 1000/2.5
    x = 400
