Need some advice.

A few nights ago, a friend and I stopped at a plaza to smoke pot prior to heading out to a bar. My friend had a one-hitter pipe in his hand. I had a bag of weed under me (on the seat, and a one hitter, with the case, also on the seat). An undercover police van pulled up, two officers ran out, opened the doors, told us we were under arrest.

The officer took my friend's pipe. His partner immediately found the weed, and the one hitter on my seat. At this point, we were both searched. They did not find any more weed on our person. After searching the car, they found my friends other pipe, grinder, another gram of weed, and some pipe cleaners.

They took our ID's, along with all that they found, and told us to get back in the car. The other officer then said we were under arrest for the possession of marijuana.

In total, this is what they found: One-Hitter with pipe (about 1.5 grams in it). Bag with about 0.3 grams in it. Another bag with 1 gram in it. A pipe, grinder, pipe cleaners, and 2 additional one-hitter pipes.

All in all, about 3 grams of weed. We were given a notice to appear, and sent on our way. Neither of us can afford a lawyer, so we are screwed in that regard. We are going to meet with the duty council (legal aid lawyer) for advice, however he will not represent us in court.

Any advice?

I forgot to mention neither one of us has a record of any kind. We are both over 20

I urge you to call or email or skype Derek Francisco and/or Ken Surgent by going to http://www.ccldr.net. You can get lots of information there. The POLCOA Defence kit you may chose to use to defend yourself with is at http://www.polcoa.ca. There have been 16 cases withdrawn using the defence. Ken's is huge because he was not/is not a Federal exemptee. You can beat the charges. Looking forward to hearing from you.
