    My question is

How can you narrow your topic to a single spoke or to a sub-hearder of a spoke on the map?

Look at all of your spokes and determine which spoke you have the most data to support your position with. For example, in a literary work if you have to explain whether a cahracter is adapting to changes in their life positively or negatively, draw up your wheel of positive and negative reactions. At the end of the work see whether you have more positive or negative reactions and write on the stronger position.

For history, choose the position that has the most historical points or the most solid chronology. Look at the events that led up to the historical event you are researching and plot them in sequence and explain each of your points.
