What happens after the debit collectors?
I haven't made a credit card payment since July of 2005. All three of my credit cards have sent my debit to debit collectors. They (those nasty collectors) call and leave messages several times a week. I have received letters asking for confirmation of the debit, but I have never responded or talked to a collector. I don't have the money to pay them back, I was told that the credit card companies would just "write off" my debit. So now what? What does it mean to "write off debit"? Will the debit collectors eventually go away? Can they sue me or does it have to come from the original credit card company? Should I talk to the callers and tell them I can't pay? I live in Michigan; I know that the SOL is 4 years, what happens after 4 years? And when does that 4 years begin? If anyone can answer any of these questions I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

After the statue of limiation from the last payment or last charge on the account they can no longer sue you in court for the money, they can of course call you, sell the debt and try to collect for as long as you live, they just can't sue after the SOL date.

And depending on how large the debt is, they can sue for a judgement, attach your bank accouints, and garnish your wages.

Just review some of the questions in this section and you will see how fequent that happens, when all of a sudden your checks start bousing when it is frozen or your check is less because they get some of it
