    Joining PVC to Lead Pipe
    Hello,

I was wondering if its OK to join pvc to lead pipes. The lead pipe seams to be in good condition and if I had more access, I'd replace the lead pipe all together. However the access to the cast iron pipe to the lead pipe is very difficult to get to. This has thinking that I'll leave a foot of the lead and attach my pvc to that. I'm currently remodeling the entire bath room.

    Thanks,

    Frans

    Hi Franssell...

If the lead pipe is in exceptionally good shape then it is fine to attach PVC to it using a FERNCO COUPLING (see image). Just be sure that the lead pipe is in great shape as it will only be harder to get to in the future should it be necessary... ;)
