Will one posisitve hairstrand test make me loose my child?
I'm due for a hair strand test soon,I'm really worried as I snorted some cocaine, the time I used it to the time of my test is approx 35 days,I've been told if it comes back positive it will have to back to court in order to disscuss what's best long term for my daughter...
Im not an addict and can quite easly go with out which I am now alcohole included, the mother is a full blown addict, registered and droped out of 2 rehabs and provided posisitve results hense her being taken into care. The LA have been reasonable with me and know I have know history of addiction and I've been very honest throughout,my hair is short and will probably only be 0.5 inches long when I do the test,I'm just so worried now I might loose her and its took this to wake me up and reliaze what I can loose,I feel so focused and committed to loose her now for something so stupid would brake me,what do you think?

In short, yes, you could lose custody. You aren't an addict but you used knowing you could lose custody of your daughter, which also makes you unfit.

What the mother does or doesn't do is immaterial - if you are both unfit your daughter will go to a third party.

No lost love here, yes you can, and if you don't have enough sense not to use drugs knowing you will be tested,

And sorry I deal with addicts all the time, and they all say, they are not, but the truth is in the fact if you were not, you would not use, knowing you could lose your child.

The question is, if you do get a negative test result, are you going to celebrate with a line or two? An eight ball?

I'm (admittedly) an addict, and alcoholic in recovery. And I'm damn proud to say that too. I just got back from an AA meeting.

I'm not judging you, but I know that you are full of sh!t when you say that you are NOT an addict. You KNOW that you are, so give me a break. "Normal" people do not have to take hair follicle tests.

You need to get into a program, like NA, or AA, and let your court appointed officer, or judge see that you are making a change. You need to write down all this anxiety, and feelings of remorse, that you are feeling, so that you can be reminded of how precious your child is, and how close to sending her to be raised by the state you are getting to.

This is not some game that you are playing, this is for keeps.

It's a good thing that you are sweating your off right now. Maybe you can keep this abstinence going long enough as to KEEP your child. I feel for you because I KNOW the demon of addiction. Not many people that are not in our shoes know that we did not choose to be addicts, and alcoholics. But when there is a child involved, and we are talking about the custody issues, you need some support behind you. You are gambling with a person's welfare, safety, and life. Get help, and stay clean.

Good luck, and God bless this little one.
