Briggs and stratton starter clutch threaded rod
I am replacing the starter clutch on a 10hp Briggs vertical shaft. I done this often in the past, but have never had this happen. Upon removing the starter clutch, instead of the clutch unscrewing from the post, the starter clutch and post unscrewed from the crankshaft. So now, I have a new starter clutch waiting for installation, and the old starter clutch with the threaded rod sticking out of it. So far, I have not been able to unscrew the threaded rod from the starter clutch. Replacing the threaded rod would be easiest, but I can't seem to find the part number in the parts diagram! Help!

Put two nuts on the threaded rod. Tighten them together. Use a wrench on one of the nuts to remove the rod.

Put them as close to the crankshaft as you can.

    Hi,
Means that at some time it was short blocked. If the nuts do not work, try part #231828.
    Peace,

Will try the nuts first, and then look up part #231828. Thanks for the help. Am currently dealing with my mom's house which caught fire, so will post as soon as I have a chance. First things first!
