Trane XL80 Can't Maintain Flame
[ 4 Answers ]
I have a Trane XL80 furnace. Basically, when it receives a call for heat, it ignites but cannot maintain the flame. I just moved in and furnace ignites for about 15 seconds then goes out. I've researched everything I can. Even found the orange wire for the press. Switch had "fallen" off and thought it might have been the whole problem, but still the same thing. From what I found so far I believe it has to be...

Furnace Ignitor and Flame Sensor for Trane
[ 8 Answers ]
An HVAC service provider says I need a new ignitor and flame sensor at $153 and $107 respectively. Is there a cheaper way? Also, he says that my 13 year old furnace has only another year, maybe. Does this sound right? I am a widow and I am wondering if he is trying to scam me.

I took the advice from many and cleaned the flame sensor. The furnace ran for about two minutes this time with the burners going, then they went out and continues to be that way. Could it be something else too, or is it likely just the sensor needs to be replaced ? View more questions Search
