What is a flame tester test for a Trane XE 80
I have a Trane xe 80 heater. Two of the flame burners light up but not the other two. When turning on the heater, two will start up, then shut down and all we get is cold air. Only way all flames will burn is by putting the thermostat up to 90 degrees. We have been having to do this in this cold weather - keep it on an extremely high temperature, turn it off, then when the house gets cold again, do this process again. What is wrong with the heater?

Trane XL80 Can't Maintain Flame [ 4 Answers ]

I have a Trane XL80 furnace. Basically, when it receives a call for heat, it ignites but cannot maintain the flame. As soon as the flame ignites (or within 10 seconds), it cuts off the gas flow and starts the ignition process again. It does this until the furnace locks out. Sometimes (probably 10%...

Trane xe 90 flame sensor or what [ 3 Answers ]

I just moved in and furnace ignites for about 15 seconds then goes out. I've researched everything I can. Even found the orange wire for the press. Switch had "fallen" off and thought it might have been the whole problem, but still the same thing. From what I found so far I believe it has to be...

Gas Trane furnace clicks and lights blue flame, but no heat [ 2 Answers ]

My not-very-new Trane gas furnace has been struggling intermittently for many months. It's only gotten really bad about 3 or 4 times. Here's what it does: - Quiet clicks I can hear when standing next to it, about 2 per second - Loud clunking noises about once every 5 or 6 seconds, I can...

Furnace Ignitor and Flame Sensor for Trane [ 8 Answers ]

An HVAC service provider says I need a new ignitor and flame sensor at $153 and $107 respectively. Is there a cheaper way? Also, he says that my 13 year old furnace has only another year, maybe. Does this sound right? I am a widow and I am wondering if he is trying to scam me.

Trane xe 90 flame sensor or what (again) [ 1 Answers ]

I took the advice from many and cleaned the flame sensor. The furnace ran for about two minutes this time with the burners going, then they went out and continues to be that way. Could it be something else too, or is it likely just the sensor needs to be replaced ?
