    Hi Bohdan:

As far as I know... very rare for a meter to go bad... but it has happened. From where I sit... couple hundred to test doesn't sound bad as long as the couple hundred is refundable if they find that the meter is defective. Could save you some big bucks... right?

Also note, that sometimes, people steal water... say a constrcution crew working nearby... or a bad neighbor... rare here, also, but it has happened before and we have talked to people on it here on this site so consider that, too. Chek to see if city was working in your area recently... never know.

Let us know what you think...

If you have checked and found no hidden leaks then The first thing I would suspect would be a faulty meter. Yes, they do go bad. I had a water bill that spiked back a few years ago. I requested they replace the meter and check the consumption. They didn't like it but they replaced the meter and my usage went back to normal. Insist they replace your meter. Good luck, Tom

Meters also measure air in the lines. Spurting from the garden hose faucet would be evidence of this.

Rating an answer and agreeing just adds to our overall rating which is somehow represented by the green bar.

    e.g.
    https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/member...plestupid.html

The orange "Rate this answer" link occurs after either a certain amount of time or posts. I know you can't do it on the first day.

I do hope you get it resoloved.

Flushmaster has new toilet valves out now, that will not allow your toilet to "run" forever. It somehow detects that the handle must be moved first.
