1988 honda Accord dyes when put into drive and step on gas
I have a 1988 honda accord 4 door front wheel drive. Here is the problem It starts fine and will run at an idol. However, as soon as you put it in drive the idol slows and wants to die. Sometimes it works and I'm able to drive at times up to a minute or two but then will soon die. During this time pushing the gas does nothing and I also noticed a couple of times it wouldn't die until I push the gas pedal down. Once I even quickly shifted into neutral as it was dying and it kept the engine running... this also does not work at times. Ive been Questioning 2 things. The fuel filter and lines or I've been told it may be the distributer timing and spark plugs. If anyone has had this kind of problem or what may be causing it please let me know.

Replacing the Ignition Control Module (ICM) and coil will solve the problem:

It should look like one of the ICMs shown at AutoZone.com for your vehicle, depending upon your distributor:

It is likely located inside the distributor.
