    Cures for hiccups anyone?
Okay, So I get hiccups about every week. Sometimes they last, sometimes they don't.
I was told it can happen from eating too fast; that I believe. Now what I want to know, is how do you cure YOUR hiccups?

They especially drive me crazy when I'm at work and I have to talk to people over the drive through speaker. They must think I'm crazy.

So, cures for hiccups anyone? :)

    *hiccup*

I was told to hold my nose while drinking water. It's been so long since I had hiccups I don't actually remember if it worked or not though. Sorry :(

I get a glass of water like 8oz. Light two matches drop the lit matches in the water take the match sticks out and then drink the water. Works for me.

What I have seen work time and again is to swallow a dry hefty teaspoon of sugar.
Anything granulated would work but salt is not quite as palatable.
Try to get the dry sugar to the back of your throat and try to swallow it dry.
I swear by this one :)

I was told that the sulfur from the match helps stop the hiccups. I have no idea how or why it does I just know it stops them. I had my wife's cousin do it last week and it worked with him also. He was pretty shocked.

One that works for me every single time is this one:
Fill up a glass of water.
Stand up, hold your nose and close your eyes.
Now drink from the opposite side of the glass.

You will have to bend over the glass so your head is basically upside down.

    Like this:
(no it's not me lol, I googled it)

For me, I hold my breath and concentrate on the hiccup... I don't know how to say it exactly, but it works 90% of the time. If not, I leave it :o

This one kid took a dollar out of his pocket one time and told me that if I hiccupped again that he would give it to me. Surprisingly, I didn't hiccup. This has happened to me a few times and I have NO clue how it works but it's AMAZING! I was really freaked out.

Unfortunately You need another person for that one.

A hiccup is a tremor in the diaphragm.

Anything that stretches the diaphragm will stop the trembling.

Holding your breath when your lungs are full. Laughing. Concentrating hard enough. Gasping.

The breathing in and out of a bag is to build up CO2 and relax the diaphragm.

Yeah, that'd stop the diaphragm trembling. I'll try a different one. Thanks anyway, Sarah.

Just don't hink about your hiccups and they will go away. Distract your mind and they usually go away
